WEEKLY TUESDAY COFFE MORNINGS

If you fancy a cuppa and a chat, or just to get out the house come and meet us, we hold our coffee morning every Tuesday.

When we are at the Gordon Messenger Centre (GMC) we also have a create space for Art, Creative writing, model making or just to have a coffee and a chat.  Want to start that thing that has been sat in the house for the last how many years, then bring it to the Create & Coffee at the GMC on Tue.

Weekly Thursday – Brew, Butty & Banter

If you fancy a cuppa and a chat and even a bacon roll, or just to get out the house, come and meet the Hub Team and other veterans at the Gordon Messenger Centre (GMC). Our volunteering veteran team will be making wets and bacon butties throughout the morning.

GMC is a great venue so you can make the most of the facilities and use it as an opportunity to discuss any welfare issues you may have with our team around Health, Housing, Employment, Education, Welfare, referrals and Socialisation.

Cost: We ask for a £5 donation to go to the GMC for a Bacon Butty, unlimited tea & coffee.        

Monthly Friday – Breakfast Club

Come along for a delicious full breakfast with tea / coffee for just £7. Take the opportunity, while enjoying your breakfast, to discuss any welfare issues you may have with the Team or simply come and enjoy the company.

Monthly Volunteering @ Powderham Castle

Got some spare time and want to feel you are giving back then come along and participate in the Powderham Castle Volunteering Sessions. It is a great opportunity to get fresh air, work as a team, have a purpose and feel a sense of an achievement. The activity will be led by the Hub team and supervised by Powderham’s team.

We also run mindfulness sessions after lunch.

National Trust Volunteering Ranger Day

Fancy something different, want to get out in nature.  Volunteering at National Trust we do various activities from putting in gates, fences, clearing paths for accessibility walk, apple picking for cider and looking forward to cider pressing in 2024.  We have achieved so much since we started, and you can do as little or as much as you can.

Once you have been for a while then you will be eligible for free National trust membership. We also run mindfulness sessions after lunch.

 

Where: We usually meet at the Ashclyst Forest main car park. Forest Gate Car Park.  From Broadclyst follow the B3181 north towards Cullompton. Go straight past the junction to Killerton House and garden. Take the next right signposted Ashclyst. Continue going straight ahead into the forest. You will find Forest Gate car park on the left-hand side with a green ‘Ashclyst Forest’ sign at it’s entrance.

Running Deer's Rural skills Course days

These days, delivered in partnership with the Armed Forces Community Support Hub in Exeter, for former forces personnel. 

 
Places currently available, 2024 dates to be confirmed.
 
Students will have the opportunity to find out more about traditional rural skills, and participate in activities including green woodworking including carpentry, bushcraft, horticulture, working with heavy horses, plus practical experience of working on real projects in countryside management.
 

These days are therapeutic in nature, although participants may also have the opportunity to gain qualifications. They are aimed at armed forces veterans including transitioning service personnel and those who have recently left the service.

Wellbeing Wanders & Dog Walks

Join the hub for one of our wellbeing or dog walks, we run them on a regular basis and as the locations change each time, we put the details on social media and weekly newsletters.  You don’t need a dog to come along on the dog walks.

Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary Volunteering and Mindfulness

Come along and work with us at Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary.  As a group we work specifically at assisted therapy center, with help in keeping that the center is accessible to all.  We get the chance to work with the donkeys and to do our own mindfulness after we have completed any tasks.

Walking Group

We run a walking group on a regular basis, locations change each time, so we put the details on social media and weekly newsletters.  If you have accessibility issues then please let us know once we have advertised where and when, as we try to accommodate all abilities.
